The Kasbah Ait Benhaddou is preserved perfectly and it is included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. It is about a 4 hour drive from Marrakech. The tour starts from your hotel, along the Tizi-n-tichka pass at 2260 m, through the twists and turns of the mountain and you will reach one of the most spectacular ksours (fortified village). The Kasbah Aït Benhaddou is situated on the trans-Saharan caravan route. This old walled village was occupied by many Berber families. It is really wonderful the walk up to the hill overlooking the village, with 360 degree views of the valley. Drive another 22 km and you will reach the city of Ouarzazate, home of the Atlas Film Studios, where famous movies were filmed such as Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator and The Mummy. Then you will break for lunch in a local restaurant with fantastic views of the old Kasbah of Taourirt, the palace where the last pacha of Marrakech lived. In the afternoon you can visit the Atlas Studios. We will come back to Marrakech at sunset.
